This is Cottingley Primary School with yet more homemade bunting.
Its all part of 75 metres that’s been sent from Leeds to help the Fairtrade Foundation
break the Guinness World record for lengths of bunting.
We’ve got to beat two and a half miles! Can we do it? Watch this space!

Little London leads the way in World Bunting Challenge

On March 1st 2011 the pupils of Little London Primary school, Leeds joined the staff of Europe Direct at Leeds Central Library to get Fairtradetrade Fortnight off to a flying start. Using only fairtrade cotton they created 13.2 metres of bunting containing 72 flags. This was their contribution to The Fairtrade Foundation’s Guinness Book of Records Challenge. Well done Little London & are you watching Big London!?

Schools Across Yorkshire Continue in World Record Bunting Attempt

The Fairtrade Foundation set the country a challenge: to break the world record for the longest continual piece of bunting to help tell more people about how Fairtrade cotton
protects the livelihoods of cotton farmers and to pressure decision-makers to make trade fairer for cotton farmers in West Africa.

Schools in Yorkshire have been working hard to help contribute to the world record attempt. Over 3000 bunting flags have been decorated by schools across Yorkshire.

FAIRTRADE FAIR AT LEEDS UNIVERSITY

On Tuesday 8th March as part of the Fair Trade Fortnight Celebrations we will be holding our annual Fair Trade Fair which is taking place in the Parkinson Court from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm. We would like to take this opportunity of inviting everyone to come along and join in the fun and celebrations.

There will be a range of stalls selling all types of Fair Trade products from chocolate to jewellery to handicrafts and a range of other merchandise.

Why not come along and try out a sample of Ben& Jerry’s Fair Trade ice cream or indulge in a piece of Fair Trade chocolate cake. This can be all washed down with a glass of Fairtrade Sangria. All we are asking is for a donation for each of these which will go towards our student Fairtrade project.Then try your luck on our “Fairtrade” Lucky Dip stall – only 50p a go!

Fair Trade has thrown down a challenge this year to make the longest piece of bunting and break the world record. It would be great if the University could be part of this and help in breaking the record so come along and use your artistic flare by putting your own personal message on a piece of Fair Trade bunting as to why Fairtrade is important to you.
